INTRODUCTION

TISKA Karate have clubs in Hendon, Mill Hill, Edgware, Finchley, Hornsey and Golders Green and are part of the “Traditional International Shotokan Karate Association” (TISKA), which has been established since 1993 and was founded by our Chief Instructor, Sensei G. Sahota (8th Dan). All the clubs above are under the instruction of Sensei C.Gregory (5th Dan), who has been doing karate since 1994, with over 20 years teaching experience.

LESSON FEES

UNLIMITED TRAINING – If you pay by Direct Debit, you can train at any of the clubs listed on our Classes Timetable, as many times a week as you like, at NO EXTRA COST. If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, please complete a Direct Debit form and hand into your Instructor, then it will be updated onto our online system. You will immediately benefit from the discounted lesson fees and Unlimited training. Discounts are available, for more than one family member

 GRADINGS

Gradings take place every 3 months in a central location for each region and this will always be in the presence of our Chief Instructor, Sensei Sahota (8th Dan). These are not compulsory, so you can decide if you wish to grade or not, but if your instructor feels you are not ready to grade, they will advise you to wait until the next grading. A Grading Application Form needs to be completed if you wish to grade and is available 4 5 weeks prior to the grading date. Grading Applications, Licence and Fee are due in 2 weeks prior to the event.

CHAMPIONSHIPS

We hold several TISKA Tournaments throughout the year, consisting of a Southern Region, Northern Region and Black Belt Championships, which all students are welcome to participate in or just spectate. These are closed events and exclusive to TISKA students. Full details available nearer the time from your club or on our website.

TRAINING RESOURCES

TISKA APPS  - If you visit any of the major App Stores, then search “TISKA”, you will be able to download numerous Apps to assist with your personal training. There is a FREE App specifically for New Beginners, which covers all the basics you need to know about Karate and demonstrates all basic techniques that you will learn during your first 6 weeks of your training.

SYLLABUS SHEET  - You will be able to download a Syllabus Sheet from the “GRADING” section of our club website, which lists everything you need for your next belt.

BOOKS  - We also have a “Beginner to Black Belt” Book, which covers all your syllabus up to Black Belt, with photos of each movement. You can order this through your club secretary or Instructor.

NEW BEGINNERS

We have a good variety of classes designed for all ages and abilities, ranging from our “Karate Kids” ( 4 – 7 years )", up to classes aimed at the more mature student ( 8 years – Adults ). Families are also welcome.

KARATE UNIFORM & ACCESSORIES

A karate uniform or any other karate accessories, can be ordered through your club secretary or Instructor. It normally takes about 2 weeks to receive your order, unless the items are in stock and payment is made on collection.

LICENSES

You DO NOT need a licence until you have successfully achieved your first Belt (Blue Belt), but then you will need one to continue your training and in time for your future Gradings. This is under the rules of our insurance policy and it is also a record of your grade. Please ask your Club Secretary or Instructor for more details. This is subject to a licence fee, but does vary depending on the time of year you start and you will need 2 passport size photos for your first application. Licences are renewed annually every January.

Please ask your club Secretary or Instructor for our yearly calendar with dates for all forthcoming Gradings and Events. Full details will be available nearer the time of the event and can be found on our website or from your club secretary or instructor.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

We continue training throughout School Holidays, but do condense our classes during the Easter and Summer period to maintain good spirit and intensity of a class, whilst other students are away on holiday. We do close on the Easter Weekend and over Christmas. Details of this can be found on the reverse of our Training Timetable.

KARATE CAMPS

We hold a Karate Camp during some of the School Holidays. These days consist of games and challenges, which helps develop their Team Work and Communication skills, plus a focus on a specific element of their Karate. Medals for the winning team, plus much more...... Full details will be available nearer the time from your club or on our website.
